I need a new slot-a motherboard, so far I've heard the ASUS K7V is the best. That true. And what's the best pc 133 memory I can get for my buck, I need 256, but I dont want to go with a crappy brand, if the perforamce is going to be horrible with a no name company memory chip. Thanks for the help. Ohh please leave a link of a place I can get that mb/memory at, if you know of one.

Thanks

Some small extra info, I made a mistake and got a pre-clocked chip awhile back, with a no name company fan on it. Don't get me wrong it's still good, but overheats pretty easy, so I guess if you mention a motherboard with good overclocking ability.

Thanks

Dunno why you need PC133 since K7s uses 100FSBs. But since you wanted, crucial is decent. Crucial. Get CAS2 for high speed but you can't run K7 past 110 so having CA2 on a 133system can run up to 142+. If you want something good at this late of the K7 productions, get DDR memory/motherboard which are not out yet.

Ohh thanks, I didnt even know that pc 133 memory doesnt work in this case. I need something new now, I'll get a newer cpu type when ddr starts to come out. So in this case, what;s the best slot-a and where's the best place to buy crucial memory, price wise?

pc133 ram does work in this case because even if the bus is 100 mhz, you can set the memory to run at 33 mhz faster than the bus speed (ie 133).

As far as suggetions go, I would vote for the asus board. Memory, go with Mushkin rev 1.5 or rev 2... great ram and nice prices. check out Mushkin for the ram.

Thanks Guys for the input, anyone else wana add something. What Asus MB is best for Slot-A, any other low priced memory out there. Need high performance, but need lower cost more.

Thanks

Again, as you said in your first post, the K7V is the best Slot-A motherboard. Hang around the Hot Deals forum to pick up some cheap RAM. My brother got 128MB for ~$90.

Slot A = k7v
Socket A = a7v or abit kt7 (I reccomend the a7v)

In my personal opinion crucial ram is the best. It's all I run.

you can get the Memory at www.crucial.com
you can get the motherboard at almost anyplace online or local. You can even order one from compUSA
