I just bought a MSI K7N2-L mobo and AXP 1700+ tbred from newegg and I'm new to overclocking these stuff. Can anybody tell me some good overclocking settings? I want atleast 2GHz out of this 1700+ and if I achieve that, I'd be very happy. Thanks!

Like what I did when I was brand spankin' new to the industry (oh wait, I still pretty much am), was read these forums for about a couple months. Then you get to see trends and certain patterns that people utilize for successful overclocks. Though I'm not saying to wait for two months before you tweak that chip (cause it's getting old), I'm saying that it'll be a while before you get the hang of everything.

Anyway, first check what kind of chip that is. If it's a TBred-B then you can most likely hit 2ghz. So, without adjusting the voltage, bump it slowly up to 2ghz. If it locks up on you before that, then increase the voltage slightly. Otherwise, if you have decent air-cooling, you should hit it without a hitch.

I have 1700XP that I got about 2 weeks ago from Newegg. I just turned it up last night. I currently have it running at 12x 166fsb which makes it like 1992 Mhz. At 12.5 it will boot but drops loading windows. At 13 it won't even post.

I will have to go mess with the voltage later to see if I can get 12.5.

keep the multiplier at 12 and raise the FSB until it will not run stable, then back down the FSB a bit.
