What's the best SCSI HD?

XMan

X-15?

Atlas 10K II?

The X-15 isn't available in any size larger than 18.4GB, but does the 15K RPM versus 10K for the Atlas make a big difference? The Atlas has got a much bigger buffer, to - 8MB compared to 4MB.

I had an X15 for two days. Then I had to ship it out.

🙁

Last time I checked, though, 18GB X15's were going for $482 on pricewatch. That's DAMNED cheap.

Viper GTS

There is little difference between 10000RPM And 15000RPM under all day work.
In anyway, I got my Quantum Atlas 10K today and its great. (A little bit noisy, but acceptable)

I would recommend the 10K II if you are the end user type,

Oleg,

The Atlas 10K II and the Cheetah 18XL perform very similarly for 10K drives,a nd cost roughly the same (I think the 18XL could be had for cheaper).

But for those who would love a Cheetah X15, Onvia has them in stock for $455, and with all the Onvia hot deals that are usually around you can get that price down I'm sure. Hell I may have to make the X15 my next purchase, I feel wimpy only having 9.1 gigs of space and only 2.5 gigs free.
