What's the best SCSI CDRW to use with CloneCD?

Anyone have any more info on this? What programs come w/ this protection? As a test I'll try it on my plextor 8x20. I bought this drive because of its ability to rip through anything when using clonecd. Just give me a name of a program w/ the protection, I'll borrow it and try to burn it, just to see if it'll work.

I don't know if there's a new protection, but so far I haven't had any problems burning any discs w/my Plextor 12/10/32S drive using CloneCD.

The new protection is called SafeDisk 2...not to be confused with Safedisk 1 r2. This is a very difficult copy protection to bypass without using patches or cracks. There have been many rumors and BS stories as to which writers can copy this correctly. One of the suppossed writes is the old Plexter 8x20. Also most writers based on the Philips hardware should work. This seems to be a hit and miss situation though. You might find that your combination of hardware will work, or it may not. It has also ben found that many plextors can copy the protection, but then the disk will only play in the cdrw in which it was burned and not in any other reader/writer. Furthermore, some cdrw's will copy one game with the SD2 protection, but not others. To make matters worse many people have had success with one cd, only to find that it wouldnt work the second time. Only way to find out is to try it out.

Hope this helps..........

Red Alert 2 is one of the games that uses SafeDisc 2. I'm thinking about getting a 12x burner, but I'm worried that all the game companies will start using SafeDisc 2 and render CloneCD useless.

Well, in your case it makes no sense right now to buy a 12x burner, unless you are looking to get the burnproof technology. Having an 8x and getting a 12x will only shave a few minutes off an already quick burn. Spending 200 dollars to save 5 minutes isnt worth it. besides your 8x might be able to cpoy SD2. I just purchassed a 12/4/32 plextor (scsi, no burnproof)...but I was also upgrading from a 4x yammy that couldnt do DOA-Raw at all. All we can do is wait and see what happens. clonecd will most likely ot be the software of choice for SD2, but something else might come along....
