Whats the best receiver + 5.1 speaker set for <2k?

The Outlaw Audio Model 1050 receiver or a refurb Onkyo TX-SR600 (I think that was the name of the hot deal that was here a bit back), with Paradigm speaker set if you're in Canada.

Perhaps 4 of these and one of their centers?

Then you would have enough for an SVS 25-31CS subwoofer. You would probably want a separate amp for this.

EDIT: Their stuff is pretty highly rated at audioreview.

Louder, but not nearly as warm sounding.

THERE IS NO ITEM THAT WILL MAKE AS BIG OF A DIFFERENCE TO YOUR SYSTEM AS YOUR CHOICE OF SPEAKERS.

I don't care at all for Cerwin Vega speakers; they basically make great frat party speakers -- i.e. loud, but not necessarily good or accurate. 😕
