What's the Best RAM for Overclocking?

I've been reading a lot of these OC threads, and I notice many different brands of RAM being mentioned. I'm currently looking to upgrade my system memory and CPU and was wondering what brand or type of RAM I should get if I wanted to do 133+ FSB. Thanks.

Buy name brand PC133 CAS2 and expect to pay $140 used, $175 new per 128mb.

Buy generic (accessmicro) PC133CAS?? and expect to pay $85

I'd rather have 256 megs of pc133(cas3?) than just 128megs of any kind of ram, since
both Windows ME and 2000 optimize and use all available ram these days.

But if you got the mad phat cash to blow on your 1.1ghz system, definitely get Mushkin REV2

good stuff. I wish i could afford it.

I brought 1 stick of pc133 Mushkin Infineon ram. Its running at 146(113+33) cas2. Help me get my duron 650 to 904(8x113).

Mhz is nice, but the major bottle neck of computers today, especially the athlon line, is the memory.

yeah, mushkin ram's pretty good, but what about Crucial's RAM? I read all these stories that people are running at 143 FSB with their PC-133 CAS2 RAM. Any opinions on that?

oh, and another thing, is there any performance difference between having 2 sticks of 128's, or 1 stick of 256? logically, the 2 sticks of 128 should be faster right? sorta like a RAID configuration for memory I guess.........see what I'm getting at? I dunno......

I wish i had the link, but i dont remember where i saw it.

As far as I can remember, two 128 sticks have less latency then one 256, and tend to work better doing memory interleaving if your chipset supports it.

how do I find out if my mobo's chipset supports it, and what is it exactly? I have a Abit BE6-II.

I have the abit-kt7-raid.

On this board, there is an option tp force 4way interleave in my main soft bios 3 page,
and in the advanced chipset section there are a couple interleaving options.

I dont know if its via chipset dependent or not...

If you are looking for the BEST RAM for OCing, you'll probably want to check out the HSDRAM that Mushkin sells. This stuff should run at up to 150MHz CAS3. They also sell PC150 SDRAM, if you really want to do something crazy like that.

but then isn't their Rev.2 RAM better, after hearing cases where people have gotten it up to 150+? and it runs at 2-2-2, instead of 2-3-2. what would be the advantage of getting the HSDRAM over the Rev.2, other than the guarantee that HSDRAM will hit 150?

Then you also have to consider Crucial's RAM, people have hit 150+ with that too.
