What's the best program for stressing CPU and checking Temp?

Well, I ran Prime95 torture test and my CPU gets up to 59C.

That doesn't seem like a bad load temp. However, what's strange is my idle temp is 52C.

So can anyone explain why my CPU has and idle temp of 52C? Shouldn't it be a lot lower?

Thanks,

thats kinda high load and diffenately a high idle. i get 32/52C with stock cooling and AS5

I wonder what the deal is. Do you think I should replace the stock thermal pad with AS5?

I hear people reccomend AS5 all the time. i thought that myth had been debunked a long time ago. Cheap thermal grease, when applied correctly, is no different from AS5. The big part of that is "when applied correctly". Many people glop on way to much, when the only reason thermal grease is used is to fill up microscopic holes in the metal.

Well, you'll have to bring some facts to the table to show your debunk statement. I will only use AS5, it's simply one if not the best, any search of a review will reveal that. There are differences as seen here, although AS5 is not listed, but we know the comparison to ceramique: http://www.overclockers.com/articles907/

Everyone should be aware of this. Looks like OCZ tried to pull the wool over peoples eyes,: http://www.overclockers.com/articles938/
Page 3 is particularly comical....
