What's the best place to post software jobs online?

My company is hiring and I need to post jobs. Are sites like monster.com and hotjobs.com worth the $300+ to post a job? Were do software developers look for jobs online?

I tried craigslist (free) with a limited response. Don't like the idea of posting a software job in a print newspaper.

BTW if anyone knows any good Windows C#/XML/SQL software developers looking for a full-time job in the Seattle/Bellevue, WA area LMK.

Thanks

Does your local paper do blind ads, where respondents use an ad # and send resumes to the newspaper, who passes them on to you? They have no idea who the company is unless you choose to contact them.

The employment and networking thread at the top of this forum is a good place to start.

Not sure - but that's how craigslist did it. Is this a deterrent?

Also, contact ajb.org

They are tied into the state/federal employment listing system.

Counselors in some states are advising people to check that site also.

I would edit the summary pointing to your hot new post too.

my company found some really good local candidates from using http://careerbuilder.com
the local paper had a deal where you got the online ad + ad in local papers for under $200 for a week run in paper + 3 weeks online. It worked out great...we got over 50 candiates of which only 10 were from india (trust me, if you post online you will get a TON), and like 20 were local actually which worked out well

There is a lot of neat features too, like before someone can apply you can amke them take a quiz on their skills, or require positng of a resume. I asked a few questiosn like "what is you most proficient programming language" and it weede out the guys that really wasnt looking for
