I'm sick of Ohio and want some sun and the beach. What's a good spot with reasonable living expenses and has a good night life?

Panama City :p Just kidding, it get's cold here in the winter, and once the tourist season is over, this place become a ghost town.

Orlando is nice, but...
1.) tons of college students going to UnderConstructionForever or Valencia
2.) traffic is terrible, and just to screw you even more, all the expressways are tolls.
3.) too many friggin tourists, and the economy relies so much on them

Jacksonville had a night life? No one told me about that.

Miami and Ft. Lauderdale have ridiculously good looking people and it's kicking, but they still suck.

Oh yeah, and any city in Florida has ridiculous urban sprawl.

Fort Myers or Sarasota are a couple of good choices. Also, Naples which has already been mentioned.

Yeah they're building like, the sixth parking garage

When did U Can't Finish changed to UnderConstructionForever ??

Orlando, although not anywhere close to being perfect is probably the best place for a single guy trying looking for a job. The living expense is low enough to where you can work a menial job and still get by.

Tampa/St. Pete area?

I spent 2.5 months there combined last year w/ work, and found it to be pretty fun with good opportunities.

I live in Sarasota (on the west coast, just south of tampa) and i LOVE it. I live about 4-5 minutes from Siesta Key beach, which is usually in the top 10 beaches in the nation/world for the best sand. The only downside to Sarasota is its nightlife and the amount of snowbirds in the winter. Due to the fact that close to 30-40% of the population of Sarasota is only here from September - March, Sarasota's general population is a little older than i would like it to be. The city prerry much dies around 9pm, with a few sporatic clubs open till 2am, but not many. Nevertheless, if you love the beach and want a beautiful beach town with a crapload of culture (art fairs, concerts, etc), check out Sarasota.

If nightlife is really your thing, check out some suburbs of Ft. Lauderdale (on the east coast). I grew up in Coral Springs (surburbia just west of Ft. Lauderdale) and i liked it over there too. Much more crowded though, like the post above said, anything south of Palm Beach on the east coast has a much higher population density... The strip at Ft. Lauderdale beach has some awesome nightlife though. Tons of clubs, bars, hotties.... Some places to hang out are Rush Street/Riverfront where there are no covers with like 10 clubs/bars in a row (also no enforcement of the open liquor law, so you can openly drink on the streets), beach place (which is a little more tame but still fun), and some of the other places on A1A. The whole area is right on the beach....

Anyway, good luck in your decision. I've been living in Florida now for close to 15 years (I'm only 23) and i really do love it down here. Sure people complain about the amt of old people and the traffic in some areas, but i dunno, ii like it here :)

Best to try and job a job that will support the lifestyle that you need.

The best place to live may not be the place that has work for you.

In other words, NOT Florida. Got it.

Seriously, don't live in Florida...there are plenty of decent states out there you can live in.

Anywhere but Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

Dade/Broward is a great place to visit, but the traffic sucks. The crime sucks. The lack of signs in English, stores with American products and people in general that speak English sucks (unless you're fluent in Spanish and like the Goya product line of foods).

I prefer the stretch of beach between Vero and St. Augustine (inclusively) or anything on the Gulf side.
