Whats the best P3 for overclocking?

The best bang for the buck is either a PIII 700E @ 933, or 1GHz (if you are extremely lucky). The AMD Durons and T-Birds are a good option also.

700E, or at the current prices, a 750E might do okay, as well, albeit at a lower FSB than a 700E.

Are you sure your friend doesn't have a 700, that he is running on a 133MHz FSB, to get around 900 (933)? To run a 733eb at 900 requires a 164MHz bus. :)

hmm I doubt your friend is runing at 164 fsb(you actualy said high 900's 950 requires a 173 fsb)the pci bus is at 41mhz at that seting witch is not something I would run my pci bus at.

well, I went ahead and bought the P3 700 with slxx on the chip. Supposedly this is cb0 stepping. I will report back with oc results once my Alpha comes in.

And yes, I did say alpha. I have a secret source, hidden away, deep inside the plant. He snuck me out one!!!

Sheesh, those things are so hard to come by. Anyone know where else they are in stock?

well by curreent prices its p3 700 butthe really best cpu to overclock % is 550e most ofthe run happily at 850 (155mhz bus) and i have reached mine 913!!!!!! on a friends i815 board from asus. (166mhz fsb) thats66% more speed!
