I have a P3 700 model 8 stepping 1 (PGA370 Socket),
Asus CUV4x board, Golden Orb fan for cooling, Hercules Geforce MX video card, Diamond Monster 400MX sound card, 128-bit PC-133 infetron Ram stick, Compaq modem. MY current Bios setting are 1.65 volts, 110 FSB , current cpu speed is 770mhz . I got it up to 868mhz but was very unstable.
I've read other forums that say they have gotten their P3 700 up to 1015mhz. (but with not details) PLEASE anyone help me get my processor to a much higher speed using my current hardware. I know it can go faster. OR if u can recommend other motherboards. thanks.

You probably have a cA2 stepping cpu. That is 868 was about the max for those. Currently, the cC0 is the best, in either SL4CH or SL4M7 (retail boxed). Many 700E cC0 fc-pga will do 1GHz+
They are damn tough to find. I sold over 25 in the past week and am trying to find more. :(

It kind of depends on you chip, but a 100Mhz processor "should" go to 133....

my 650 works perfectly at 866, with the core voltage set 1.7

Try increasing the core voltage a bit, and see if can get more about of that chip...

Also as compuwiz suggests, check the stepping of your CPU, you can do that by looking
at the SL code of you CPU, there a complete lists of SL codes and stepping at the intel
site.

But according to the PIII processor specsification,

For the P3-700: "SL3VL" & "SL3T3" are cA2... "SL3XX" & "SL45Y" are cB0... "SL4CH" & "SL4M7"
are cC0

For overcloking forget about the cA2, the cB0 will run at least 33% increase, and the cC0
are being reported as good one ( haven't tried one yet )
