What in you guys' opinions, is the best notebook performance wise and battery life wise, for 900 bucks or lower?

My vote would be for a m68xx from the FS/FT forum ($800 - $950). Just got one and seems to be an awesome lappy so far (runs HL2, D3, UT2004 and FarCry just fine).

At the 900 dollar price point you might well have to choose performance or battery life, unfortunately. Which one would be your highest priority? Something like a low end Ibook is going to have pretty nice battery life; but suck at playing even those games that Macs can run, while something like the suggestion above will be a pretty nice gaming box; but leave you running on AC for most of its life.

I want it to play games like ut2k4 and c&c generals, and rct3, at mid to low settings decently, and it needs to have enough battery life to be able to effectively use it for workin or gamin on the go.

Found this HP refirb, looks so good I may buy one.

$849, A64, 512MB, DVD burner, 15.4" WXVGA, no clue about the video. :)

It has an NVIDIA GeForce?4 420 Go with 32MB DDR.

You're better off with the emachines' Radeon 9600 with 64MB dedicated.

yup, CompUSA is running a special on a gateway model with the ati 9600 chip and modible athlon 65 bit processor. I know severa people who got them for 750$ after rebate during the madness sales.
