I absolutely loved UT...still play it almost daily to let out my frustrations :)

What modern day game has the fast paced gameplay of UT? I tried Q3 and didn't like it..

Tried to demo the multiplayer MOHAA and it would stick on my machine before starting..

I'm dying to try something new...

Thanks!

It might be an outdated engine, but they've done a really nice job with Day of Defeat 2.0. It's a HalfLife mod.
For addictive gameplay, I don't think there's anything out there right now that beats it. That is if you want something more realistic that UT/Q3 type games.
Heck, it's free. Would't hurt to try, right? :) IMO, it's the best MP game/mod out right now.
Or, just try a different mod for UT, to still see it's nice graphics. Tactical Ops/Infiltration are two of the bigger ones. Both enjoyable.

Yeah, UT and Q3 are tought to beat, even after all these years!

Check out the Tactical Ops MOD for U.T. It is a TOTAL CONVERSION!!!

If you remotely liked CS, then you will love TO (IMO it is far better than CS).

thanks for the responses peeps....I tried Tactical Ops for UT...just too slow for me...I'm not the type to move around slowly...I'm just a straight up fragger...never played CS but if it's anything like TO (which from what I've read it is) I wouldn't like it..

something fast paced is what I'm looking for...looking into RTCW next...

any other suggestions?

I should just go back to Subspace for multi....or join a clan... :D

Hehe, Infiltration is slower than TO, although it's a great mod.

Hmm, so you want DM eh? Ok, there is U4E for UT. I don't know if you'll like RTCW then. Serious Sam 2 is out I believe, for $20 it's a great DM game.

MOHAA = Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Which is also a great multiplayer game. However, i LOVE RTCW and CS.... RTCW is fast paced and requires a lot of teamwork, while CS can be slow or fast, depending on how your teammates are. I'm usually the 1 to run out first with guns blazing, so CS is fast for me. CS can be slow if you die early in the round, because you don't respawn until the round's over. RTCW, you respawn every 10-40 seconds (or medic can save you). Try some, but none of them are as fast paced as UT though :D

For more craziness in UT, try the AK47 mod and 24 bots in an open level. Its pure machinegun madness :D

Tactical Ops for Unreal is fantastic. Anyone know how to set a game up so one team is all bots and one team is human players? Y'see we tried to play it on the weekend - there were four of us and we wanted to put about 10 bots on the other team but we couldn't figure out how to do it.

Ideas?

<< Anyone know how to set a game up so one team is all bots and one team is human players? >>

Noooo.... :)

The bots AI sucks and T.O was never designed to be played against bots. It should only be played against humans. The bots while use aimbot, they tend to get confused on the games objective!!

You should also check out the W.F.A MOD for Quake III. These are the only 2 "on-line" games I play. WFA is faster paced and is another "team-based" style of game (I like those). If you play a "marine," you get into the most action. You can decide to play defense or offense, red team or blue team. It is essentially CTF on steroids ;)

I bet I played UT at least as much as jcuadrado (original poster) and so far, I am enjoying MoH:AA. Its the only game to take my focus away from UT CTF. I still stop in to play UT every now and then, but only to say hi to friends mainly. Remember, UT has been out since '99, and MoH was released about 3 weeks ago. The mod community will be in full force and a CTF mod will probably keep me busy for years. I enjoy Teamplay MoH as it is similar to UT Team DM. I have dabbled with Objective and Round based games too but find they are too similar to CS and Tac Ops (which was good, but for a pure run 'n gun player, is poor). Since the game is so new, I will try all three modes and see what floats my boat, but I can guarantee that CTF will be most interesting based on past experiences. Its too bad EA and 2015 didn't build more of a multiplayer element into the game, as it is ridiculously poor compared to UT's browser setup for M/P. The most annoying thing I found with MoH was the lack of bots to play offline and learn the maps, so consequently you go online and get spanked, just like CS.

Hope this helps you out as I really think MoH is the best bet til Unreal 2 comes out in July. :D

I'd have to agree with Day of Defeat v2.0 for HL. It's a pretty fun mod. It's been taking up my nights for the last few days since I downloaded it.

I've been playing RtCW alot lately. It is the first game to get my attention since UT.

But it is WAY different.

Not nearly as frenzied. But not snooze slow like CS and things like that. (Unless you're playing on a server with hideous 60 second respawn cycles or something like that.)

Anywho. After playing UT (as ShereKhan) constantly since it came out (Nothing beats a good shock combo.) I'm pretty much constantly playing RtCW now.

Your mileage may vary.

OMG jcuadrado you played Subspace! that was all time favorite on line game. Your the only person that i've seen on boards that use to play that. What was your name? i use to spend hours in chaos west. I still jones to play that. I think you'll like RTCW. I've been playin that as much as I use to play Subspace.

Subspace! :D

I still have it installed (now Continuum) though I have not played in many moons. I liked it so much 'cause it was much like the original Space Wars arcade game. Memoriieees!

The best reply I've read....I've played many demo and full games...there is nothing like the fragging in UT...

I'll try to be patient and wait till Unreal 2 or UT2...I believe there will be nothing like it..
