You can pick up a Nomad II or IIc pretty cheaply these days. They come in 0, 32, and 64meg flavors which can all have up to a 128meg card added. Small, pretty tough, holds lots of music, nice interface and you can listen to the radio once you've gone through the mp3's if you get the II.

I got one for $70 at Best Buy a while back. They're kinda hard to find, but pop up cheaply now and then.

EDIT- a friend of mine has a Bantam 350. Really tiny....would be very unobtrusive while working out.

I've got a Rio 500 with an extra memory card that I really like to use while exercising. It's fairly tough and it was cheap enough that if I boke or lost it I wouldn't be too mad at myself :)

I read on some ipod forum that people were recomending the 5gb ipod for those who work out. One guy was asking what to buy for jogging and he bought a 5gb ipod and had no problems at all with it.

I'm quite happy with my Diva Player. It's not the cheapest out there but it sounds good & has shown to be fairly durable even after being dropped on the treadmill & flying off into another treadmill. It can also act as a removable storage device for other types of files.

Ok guys I bought the Iriver iFP-180t..it's pretty nice.I kinda wish it had 256 megs of memory
rolleye.gif
It comes with an USB cable...which was kinda slow..it's not USB2.I got 21 Mp3's on it with the 128 megs.. which is ok.I guess :D The FM-Tuner comes in really good..The sound and clarity is very good.Comes w/ earbuds,1 double A battery, neck strap,CD for drivers and software. The software is simple w/ a windows explorer type interface.Overall I'm happy.

I also was gonna purchase the 10gig Nomad for 100.00 after rebates, but they were out of those. My son would love one of those.Anyone get one they want to sell??For of course what you paid ;) I would pay for shipping and all.Maybe give ya a few bucks.

Have a day :)

That's a couple of hours of music Curtis, how long do you work out?

I have a Rio 500 with 128 Megs and what I did was convert all my MP3's to 9600 Bitrate on another drive (just to use for my Rio) and I can get 3 hours worth of music. I can't really tell that much difference in the quality, especially when I'm doing Cardio.

Hey glad to see you like the Iriver, I am going to get one after Christmas. I just saw on thei website that the 256MB version will be availible on 12/16 for $199.
Where did you buy yours?
Also for you Ipod fanatics, does it come with an FM tuner?

The iPod does not have an FM tuner. But with 5-20GB of music, why would you need one? :D

Most Best Buys should have this tiny Nike MP3 player that holds 64 or 128 MB of internal memory and are expressly made with an armband to be strapped on during physical activity.

Myself, I have a Nomad II and find it a bit heavy while going jogging - you might find otherwise. :)

Hi Mike,
At least 2 hrs daily..I stretch & use a swiss ball for 30 minutes, work out w/ free weights or nautilus for an hr,then do aerobics for 30-40 minutes 6 times a week @ home..I have to because of my bad back..But I tell ya what...it*the back* is a helluva lot better now..Also lost 20 lbs in the last 3 months :D
What's really nice is they have a nice gym at work..If I can't find time to do it while taking care of my daughter during the day..I'll work out at work for a couple hrs b4 work @ work.
I can also use the iriver @ work while working :)

The options on this iriver 180 is amazing, the damn thing has 30 languages, not that i know anything other than english :p
It tells everything about the song, name, the length, has a voice recorder, even a alarm clock. To much stuff to list..The manual is really thick :Q

Axia,
Where did you buy yours?
Got it @ Bestbuy for 139.00 but with a 10% coupon that brought it down 14.00..it was 130.00 after taxes & coupon.

The FM tuner is sweet on this thing...really clear..has a 20 station pre-set also.

You are an animal Curtis:) Right now I'm recovering from a back injury I sustained working out with a schedule similar to yours.

What's really helped me the most is 6-7 stretching exercises and the swissball. The swiss ball focuses on good posture, strenthens ALL the stomach muscles, lower back muscles and legs ...Their only around $20.00..They sell books on exercises for the swiss ball also.

If your interested in getting a swiss ball..lmk and I'll scan all the different exercise sheets I have and send them to ya!!

my i-river slimX IMP350 (CD/mp3player) works great. It doesn't skip ,has an fm tuner and is small enough to fit in most pockets. downside is you need a CD writer and its not as small as most mp3 players. these thing go for about $150
