ok, i have all three of the major mousing surfaces mad for gamers. first you have your everglide, i have the giganta, and there is the 3M Precise Mousing Surface, and then there is the fUnc sUrface 1030. i have both an optical mouse and a ball mouse. The difference from going to the table to an everglide on an optical mouse was nice. it slid a lot smoother and seems to track better than the woodgrain of my desk. using the 3M surface, it was ok, but it didn't slide as well, and the pad tended to move underneath the mose. if you have an optical mouse, i still strongly suggest you have a mousing surface to use, i prefer the everglide for this, especially if you are a gamer, you'll appreciate it's ability to make the mouse slide smoother. now with my ball mouse, i started out with the 3M surface, and i like the way it tracked, very accurately due to it being a little rougher than the everglide. as i said before the 3M surface tends to slide around a little on you. it also isn't very durable, after about a month of once a week lan parties and gaming 2-3 times a week inbetween, it started to get little bubbles and worn out. next i got an everglide to replace it. it was very good at tracking, but not as good as a new 3M surface, but it did allow for a little faster movement of the mouse. finally i ordered a fUnc sUrface. i think it is the best one of all. aside from including a mouse cord clip (wich is great, no more getting my cord cought and casing problems) it also has 2 surfaces to use. since i like the more precise 3M like surface, i have been using the "rougher". it is kind of inbetween the everglide and 3M surface. a little faster movement than the 3M, but better tracking than the everglide. it is also not as big as the everglide, probably 90% the same size, but plenty big enough, and is is much bigger than the 3M surface, which i found was too small, and i had to keep lifting my mouse and repositioning it, which is a bad thing for a gamer to be doing constantly. the other thing i like about the fUnc pad is that it has a nice rubber base to keep it from sliding underneath the mouse. yet another plus of the fUnc is that it comes with a tin to carry it around in. now this may not be important to everyone, it was to me. now i have something to protect my mouse pad in transporting it to and from LAN parties. there is a sizable nick in my everglide from doing just that, transporting it to and from a LAN. hope this helps.
