What's the best motherboard for OCing a Tualatin Celeron?

Originally, I was going to try tackling a new build with an old PIII Tualatin I had laying around at work. I wanted to build a system out of it and see how far I can overclock it. However, I have many more Celeron Tualatins at work, and am now actually more interested in those, since I hear they have more wider support in motherboards than the PIII 512KB Tualatins do.

So...any recommendations for a decent overclocking motherboard that supports a Tualatin Celeron, or should I just stick with the TUSL2-C?

TUSL2-C

I ran a 1.26 Tualatin on my Black Pearl with a wire mod for a couple of years. I loved that system. It was stable as a rock, like my BX rig before it.

So it seems like my best bet for OCing is the Abit ST6 or the Asus TUSL2-C. I appreciate the input guys. Does anyone else have anything else to offer?

Maybe somene remembers which models were good to look out for (be it PIII-S or Celeron-S), or even better if anyone remembers which steppings were considered very good, or if they had a chip that overclocked well.

I don't remember what stepping mine was...

you can check this database out if you haven't already to get a rough idea.

Hmm, that's a good start.

The Abit is the best for Overclocking, the voltage option is insane!!! Trust me I know. ;)

Well, I've been trying to find an ST-6, but it's been expensive, and I've had very little luck. Ebay will show one once in a while. The TUSL2-C I've had a bit more luck with, usually finding 1-2 on eBay. Main reason why I've shifted focus, I guess, is because I'd like to get more readily available to purchase options, and it seems the Tualatin Celerons are supported on more boards than their PIII brethren, giving me a larger pool of boards to choose from.

I think I've found a TUSL2-C that I can get, but more options are always good.

FWIW, any board that supports a Tualatin Celeron will also support any Tualatin PIII. Some patient searching of Intel.com chipset and processor document "archives" will probably pay off here.

Hmm...but I had seen a board that claimed it supported Celerons up to 1.2, but didn't claim any support of 512KB Tualatin PIIIs. Can't remember which board, but maybe it was a typo. Believe me, I've been doing plenty of searching in my spare time. The cheap bastard part of me doesn't want to spend $70 on a B-step i815 chipset board for just a simple project, but I can't find much else with the Apollo chipsets either. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and buy the TUSL2-C.

:)

It should, cuz all Celeron Tualatin's have 512kb cache as far as I remember...and that the only difference is that the P3's have 133MHz FSB instead of 100.

The Celly's I have at work are only 256KB L2 cache, and 100 FSB. Anywho, I think I've got a board, so we'll see how the overclocking experiment goes :)

Thanks everyone.
