Whats the best most comfortable mouse right now

I am a graphic deisgner and my mouse (intelli optical) is acting like its about to die.

I really appreciate lighness, smooth motion, accuracy and most of all comfort in the hand. Will be using a 1600 by 1200 res and up.

I was quite happy with the intellimouse but it tended to collect grit very easily, and didn't last as long as I'd have liked.

Given my requirements whats the best thing out there?

I am a fan of Logitech mice. I personally use the MX510 for gaming, but the cordless series is good also.

how long have you had your mouse? is out of warranty?

the mx510 is very nice and responsive coupled with one of those everglide or ratpadz mousepad it's damn smooth. if you like light mice you should stay away from wireless since the batteries add to the weight.

Using Logitech MX-500 here......
The Family liked mine so much that for Christmas I had to buy a coupld of MX-510's.

I have an MX-700 also. Great cordless!

MX1000's thumb groove is way too deep.

I use an MX500 myself, couldn't be happier.

ok, thing is, i'm wondering about the weight - how light is the MX510 (compared to intelli and razer) i've heard all MX models are heavy....any truth to that?

Does the 510 have teflon feet? if not could anyone name a place where they bought a set (which set do you recommend of course).

Can anyone say if the Diamondback is uncomforable to hold for long periods of time?

Don't worry about a mouse - graphic design is much better with a Wacom digitizing pad. A mouse is a crude tool by comparison.

I use either the MX510 at work and my home tower, or the MX900 on my laptop (bluetooth came in it). Both are great mice...

Logitech Corded Optical mouse.
Cheap, simple, small, light. After using one for a year or so now, the tracking isn't so great, though. Better than any MS, but the dual-sensor mice really do feel smoother.

Logitech MX310.
Small, light, right-hand only, good tracking.

Logitech MX510.
Simple, right-hand only, pretty light, very good tracking.

Can anyone say if the Diamondback is uncomforable to hold for long periods of time?

I`ve no problems with comfort ,my diamondback is very light so no fatigue when moving it around,has built-in teflon feet,as to shape comfort?..It`s suitable for right or left handed users,like all things it`s really personal preference when it comes to shape and design.

What value in the windows driver for "mouse speed" fully utilizes the scanning of the above intellimouse?

Have a MX510 here for my powerbook and love it. Also have an MX duo (MX700 w/ wireless keyboard) at home for my peecee and it's also very nice. Have to agree that you might look into a digitizing tablet though...

Yes, digitizer pad is nice and useful for a bunch of tasks (have one in the studio) - however - most of my work is 3d animation - and I just need a good light mouse most of the time.

Anyone have an answer to my previous question?

As best as I can remember the MS mouse is 400dpi. It sounds like the Diamondback would suit you best as far as weight and accuracy goes, as for comfort that gets into a personal preference area.

I believe it has 400 DPI.

MX510 has 800 DPI
Diamondback 1600 DPI.

Thanks Mem - I enjoyed reading that. I do wonder though - the front bottons seem smaller than on my current mouse.....which by the way looks nothing like the IME 3 that's seen in the article....


As to comfort - yes it is subjective but I would like to hear people's subjective views on comfort non the less.
