What's the best monitor out there?

Dell 2405?
HP L2335?

Any other contenders for high resolusion, big screen fast refresh monitors out there???

Apple 30", if you have the power to run it, with the Dell 2405FPW running a close second (note that we're talking retail availability here..there are monitors that are MUCH better than both, but not really feasible for the general public to afford).

Are you looking for the best low caliber display or are you looking for the best display?

That makes it sound like you don't want anything resembling a LCD but that is all you listed as options.....

I'm extremely satisfied with my 2005FPW and it scales very well for games that don't support 1680x1050. I'm sure the 2405 is even better but you better have some serious GPU power or you will never be running newer games at acceptable framerates at native rez.

My X800XL just can't handle the truth at native with any AA on a lot of newers games, go go gadget r520. 🙁

2405fpw is bigger but I don't know if it's better than 2005fpw. Different panels. But size does matter and 2405 is much bigger.

Why do people keep recommending the 30" apple? It isn't like its that great of a display. Unless you're only in need of the sheer workspace all in one screen, it isn't going to be that great of a monitor otherwise. I'd rather have a pair of 24" LCDs (even more workspace), and would cost even less (or just as much if you go Apple). Gaming on one 2405 and having the 2nd for extended desktop... 4,608,000 pixels of resolution vs. 4,096,000 pixels of resolution - unless you have to have it all on one monitor, I'd say the 2 x 24" setup would be more versitile.

He also listed some LCDs himself. Im with you though I would take a NEC CRT over anything thats been listed. Until LCDs have true black and no ghosting for a reasonable price im sticking to CRT.

Wow $2600 with discounts is insane. You could get 2x 2405s for $1000 less than that and they would be way better IMO. So get a very fast PC and two 2405's or just get a 30" Apple (aka overpriced) Cinema.
