Just looking for opinions based on quality/price on the best media for Mini DV Camcorders. I have a Sony DCR-TRV17 cam and usually use Sony or TDK Mini DV tapes but for no particular reason. Not sure if there is a real difference or not between brands....

They're all fairly equal. However, some Sony camcorder models have trouble when you switch tape brands a lot. Yours might not be one of those models, but it doesn't hurt to stick with one brand.

Massively discussed at dvinfo.net. I use Fuji. Panasonic is made by Fuji and sells with two grades. Lots of users. They use a dry lubricant.

Sony is a wetter lubricant. Also lots of users.

Most camcorders can have issues with mixing tapes brands. The wet and dry lubricants mixing together can make a goo that would require a professional cleaning. Get a brand and stick with it is the best strategy.

Also, buy online. Tapes are about $3.50 a piece from online places like bhphotovideo in quantity.
