This tendancy to research stuff and see what the best bang for buck is, and compare the differences when i buy gadgets and computer parts has spilled over to other stuff as well.

Whats the best microwave? Or at least what is the best make? Sharp? I have no idea.

I really fancy the microwave with a 300 GHz frequency. It is right near the infrared range. But that is mostly because I perfer infrared radiation to FM range radiation.

Any major brand should be fine IMO. I'd guess you'd choose by size/price/looks nowadays.

My GF has a kick ass JennAir, but it also cost a retarded amount of money for a damn Microwave. I like Panasonics myself, not too pricey and work wonderfully.

I like the contractor-variety GE microwaves. The 1.55 kW GEs in both my parents' home and in my apartment are kickass.

Whatever you get, I'd recommend 1100 W as opposed to 900 (or God forbid 600-700). It's a little more expensive, but the time you save is noticeable.

I agree that Sharp and Panasonic make the best microwaves.

Agreed. Just replaced an 8+ year old Sharp with a Panasonic Genius. They're both great.

No idea about the weight sensor. But these things are tanks that usually last forever, so if a feature seems appealing to you just spring for it.

I have a Sharp but I don't think they're very good. I used to have a Samsung that was really good until it started turning on by itself :Q ghosts?.

The Sharp seems louder running and when you close the door it's the loudest WHAM I ever heard on a microwave. You can hold your hand on the button while you close it but it's tricky you gotta get it just right. And it doesn't cook as fast as the Samsung did. I don't know the wattage of either, though. The Samsung also had buttons to add/subtract 10 seconds which I used all the time. The Sharp only has ability to add/subtract a whole minute which I don't think is as useful.

Make sure it has an instant-on 1 minute button, mans greatest creation!

Just turn off your pacemaker when you get near one and you won't have that problem.

You must have had the same one I do. Even though its about 10 years old now it still works great and cooks better than some of the newer ones I've used. :)
