What's the Best Method of Getting a MCSE?

How do I go about getting my MCSE Certification.

Most community colleges offer a program.

Community colleges can do it, but expect it to take a very long time (since you need to figure only one MCSE-related class per semester), and they often require taking A+ or Net+ as a prerequisite (as the one in my area does).

Otherwise, go to a specialized training center (one that is partnered with Microsoft as certified). You'll probably finish MUCH faster, provided you are good with computers to begin with.

The main thing, though, is to definitely take a class. Just reading a book is almost never enough. Combine classroom with books and online practice testing services.

I'm already A+ Certified and have a BS in Computer Science.

buy the book and do it yourself.. i got mine in 98... take 1 test a week..

I have earned my A+, Network+ & MCP (WinXP) all by reading books and practice tests. Of course I had 6yrs of computer hobbies prior.

At this point I only need 2 MS Server tests to become MCSA. However if you plan to pursue MCSE I would highly recommend some classes.

Also check out the MS website on Certifications they will show you what tests are needed to earn your MCSE.

Unfortunately I don't think your A+ can be used for MCSE as it can for MCSA.

Get test answers from friends, go over them, take test.

Ambitious considering today's adaptive test structures....good luck getting a test passed in one week unless you can retain everything in the book itself....by the way what book are you speaking of???

Exactly. The days of the "paper MCSE" are long gone. You absolutely have to take a class, unless you already have years of experience.
