My crucial pc 2100 need to be upgraded to something better, thinking in terms of the future, I want to go with something that has a lot more OC potential?

Kingston, Mushkin, Corsair, Crucial? what's the best? Is PC 3000 better for OC?

Thanks

It's still pretty much luck of the draw, but your odds are better with Corsair. More expensive too though.

Corsair is pretty much the best stuff out there, but you pay for the performance. The best price/performance ratio is probably Twinmos.....

I run my Corsair XMS PC3200 at DDR 440MHz 2-3-2-5. It's pretty good stuff, I'm still waiting for something to come out that will let me run up towards 470MHz at tight timings...

There is a guy selling Twinmos 512MB pc3200 over at AMDMB forums for $110 shipped....seems pretty cheap....:)

Comes with those Winbond 5NS chips that Corsair uses.....

Ram has always confused me. I dont know if I should get lower latency or higher clocked RAM.....and whats the 'ns' all about?

Corsair is good but expensive, running my pc3200 at ddr448 right now without any problems (most relaxed timings, will try upping them later when I've found the max Mhz, cas doesn't seem to make much difference on my P4B533)

Basically CL2 is faster than CL 2.5 (Clock Latency - Lower is better) and a lower ns (nanosecond) equals faster access time therefore faster performance.

Hope that helps.:)

So whats better of the two? Twinmos 3700 @ 4.3 ns/CL2.5 or the Corsair 3200LL @ ? ns/CL2.0?

For strictly gaming applications.

Well, the Twinmos will probably be able to run CL2 at PC3200, so they are probably equivalent. I always do a google search for reviews before I buy memory. There is a lot of good information on almost every brand of high end memory.....

Good DDR RAM review Here...
I do not know what magic GeIL cast on the PC-3700. It hit an unheard 218 MHz with 2-2-2 setting. This is simply amazing. Any manufacturer wants to lend me a board that can do > 230 MHz operation? Overclockers, do not hesitate anymore, this is the module to get if you want to achieve THE highest speed. Due to its endless potential and lifetime warranty, we give it our OCNZ Editor's Choice Award.

Thx for the link bro. Seems like Corsair is the best even though Twinmos uses the same winbond chips?

higher clocked imo is better than lower latency (unless clock is like 2mhz higher lol...then opt for lower latency)
latency only affects the initial burst
after that its all one after the other

ns=nanosecond
prety much what you do is (1/ ns rating) *1000
that gives the maximum speed allowed by the specs
you can usually push more out of it, but almost always involves a voltage hike and/or ram timings sacrifice

for ex:
5ns chips : 1/5=.2*1000 = 200mhz (400ddr)
therefore, those chipsare made to run at 200mhz (400ddr) and will most likely do more
