. . .for either P4 or AMD?

Leading criteria are:

- fsb/overclocking (actual, not on paper)
- voltage control: Vcore, Vdimm, Vagp, Vio
- onboard features: audio, LAN, video, AGP slot
- memory tweaks: timings, dividers
- need I say "stability";)?

I'm currently building a LAN box with an ASUS P4B533-VM and have come to find that it does not have nearly the tweakability that the other P4B533 boards have; caveat emptor, right? The point behind this thread is that there is so little information about these boards available on the Internet, nobody reviews 'em! Strange, too, since that LAN-box market seems as though it could be a money-maker. I'm hoping that there are a few of us out there who can create a knowledge-base for the next poor schlubs who have the same idea we've had, namely: to build a LAN system using a micro-ATX motherboard, but who can't find any info on this stuff anywhere:). Also, it would be nice to have resource for me to refer back to; that's right, folks, we're doing this for me, I'm that "poor schlub" I was talking about, lol:D.

before you purchase the board, download the users manual and scrutinize the bios settings pages.
if you dont see what you want then move on.
if you do not see the overclocking features - clear as a bell - in the bios pages, then they are not there, and the way new mobos are introduced, waiting for an updated bios fix is hopeless.
The mobo is outdated in no time- as everyone on this board knows.

eg the asus site claimed that your vm board had ALL the great overclocking features.
in fact it did not have ANY of the claimed features, however if i would have downloaded the maual i would have realized that
and analyzed the bios pages, my answer would have been clear.
