I think I'd go with the Kenwood. I don't have the system myself, but I've heard a lot of praise from others who do. They say it's great, as great as $300 can be of course. ;)

I'd go with the Kenwood as well---it's got much more power and the Dolby Digital/DTS decoder built in. The Sony receiver with the Cambridge system is only Dolby Digital/DTS ready

DON'T DONT DON'T go cheap like this. 300 bucks is severely limiting and you won't EVEN get a DECENT system for that. If you don't have money now, then buy it piece by piece. I can build you a 600 dollar system that is decent, but nothing less. This is the least expensive suitable system IMO. No one buys DD READY these days.

pioneer vs509-s it has component vid inputs, dolby digital, dts. Great reviews. 199.99 at Costco B&M. There was a hot deals post on here i believe.

try to find 6 piece package system from Energy or Mission (try ubid.com) for 300 bucks. my friend picked up a mission 6 speaker system complete with pwr. sub for 300 on ubid.com new. Get generic 12AWG speaker wire, and Tos link cable for receiver.

i think you can get a tos link cable for 40 bucks if you look around, and the speaker wire depends on where you look as well. I figure total to be about 600.

if you don't have the money consider financing the receiver if Costo allows that, or deferred payment.

Heh...for $300 bucks get a Klipsch Promedia 4.1 system. Good enough for a home theater and more than enough for you PC when you game! ;)
