I picked up an el cheapo earbud for my samsung 8500... people can barely hear me speak with that thing on...its the kind where the mic sorta just dangles about. i had one of the original jabras for my old nokia phone and that seemed to work pretty decently. anyone have any opinions... how about those plantronic ones with the microphone like a small boom mic... i'll risk looking like a operator for comfort and sound quality(both ways).. can't seem to find much information on their line of cell fone headsets. so what do you all use and reccomend?

the ones with the boom mic? or the other type of mic... or the new jabras that fit inside your ear with the mic built in the ear piece.

Just get any of decent quality as long as they give you that foam thingy for the ear cuz it'll start hurting after a while.

Sorry, should have been more specific. The ones with the mic in the earpiece. I've had one for about a month and haven't had any problems with people being able to hear me. Also, it came with like 4 different ear pieces so you should get one that fits you comfortably.

Edit - just found my package, it comes with 6 different ear pieces.

I tried finding some reviews of cellphone headsets on ePinions.com but found none :(

Good news, I found several headsets for the Samsung 8500. The Jabra is one of them selling for only $9.99.

The weird thing about the Jabra is the listening ear bud and microphone are combined into one unit. The microphone works off vibrations from your jawbone? I've heard that it's pretty accurate and significantly cuts out wind noise.

Hope this helps.

yeah, ive seen the deals over at amazon for the jabra stuff, but it seems thats what they only mainly carry. thanks for the help though. I'm really interested in the newer plantronics headsets...but cant seem to find any information...such as on epinions where you would think they would review things like that...

Rossman, I don't like you any more. I paid $30 for mine and now you pop in with this freakin' link for $10!!!!
Then again, I did buy it a month ago so it probably wasn't that cheap then, yeah, that's what I'm tellin' myself!

j/k, I still like you, but I don't like the new avatar (yes I voted in your poll!)

Plantronics is the cream of the crop when it comes to headsets PBX at work call centers or cell phones but be prepared to pay at least $49 and higher, probably more like $99 - $129.

Actually if you search the Amazon.com Electronics department you'll find 52 matches for Plantronics. Then do a CTRL F for all occurences of cell. The problem is there are 6 Plantronics cell phone headsets, I would check all six of these out to see which is compatible with the Samsung 8500.

Plantronics M205 Cordless/Cellular Headset for $29.99

Plantronics Headset For Cellular & Cordless Phones Headband Design Noise Cancel for $13.34

Plantronics M135 Cordless/Cellular Headset (Blue) for $29.99

Plantronics M124 Cordless/Cellular Headset for $24.99

Plantronics M135 Over-Ear Mobile and Cellular Headset with Inline Volume Control for $31.96

Plantronics M124 Over-Ear Mobile and Cellular Headset for $22.60

Here's a bonanza of Plantronics headsets for cell phones which includes pictures and specs for the M124 and M135 sold at Amazon.com

Here's even more Plantronics headsets for cell phones.

Good news according to MobileHeadsets.com the Samsung 8500 is 2.5 mm jack compatible with Plantronics cell headsets!

Of course here's the most helpful information of all, Plantronics.com Mobile Headsets.

If you do end up buying from Amazon.com PM me and I'll give you some coupon codes if your order is $35 or higher.

Actually I paid even less because my local VoiceStream Wireless was selling the Jabra headset for Nokia 51xx/61xx phones for $10 flat, figure in Oregon has no sales tax and of course there was no shipping.

I'm still not sure if I'll keep the current avatar or revert back to Office Guy 6 but thanks for voting.

I always search from the main Amazon.com website and never search a specific department.

Yep tell me about it. There's still other coupons but not as good as $50 off $100.
