What's the best GeForce AGP vid card?

I'm assuming they don't make AGP GeForce cards anymore, but what was the best one produced? I have a 7800 GTX right now

As far as I know, the 7800 GTX was the last card produced AGP and its a good card, if you need the upgrade though, you're looking at a motherboard upgrade for some PCI-E.

k, was just checking. I'm not looking to replace it, just for future reference.

There might be a 7900 of some sort for AGP, but not entirely sure I can find one.

Gainward's special edition 7800 GS+ was effectively a 7900 GT, but it wasn?t widely available. It was eventually outgunned by the slightly faster 7950 GT AGP, but this card came to market quite late, months after the much more popular X1950 Pro AGP.

Anyway, why does it have to be a GeForce? The HD 3850 AGP is easily the fastest AGP card ever made.

You'd almost be better off going a budget 775/AM2 build at this day and age.

Definitely.

I mean, for $120 you can have a fast X2 processor, AM2 motherboard and 2GB DDR2-800 memory. Then you can throw in whichever PCIe video card you want and away you go.

Get a AM2 based comp. the AMD chipsets themselves are great 790, etc and dont cost a lot like 775....

Forgot to say "AMd AM3 will be compatible with AM2 slots"

This is in fact the best option for the AGP based system. This chipset is relatively fast AND it is a power miser as well. Highly recommended if you want to go that route...

Has anyone had a working video card, wanted to upgrade and installed a newer one, only to have neither card work? I am baffled why a working card will not work, once reinstalled.
Furtermore the drivers & all are intact. Now the system won't even recognize any video cards except the onboard one.
