What's the best FREE message board software?

phpbb is free and easy to set up

but it seems to constantly have hackable bugs

be prepared to keep it updated every few weeks
its also a PITA to modify (other than simple design stuff)

Did you see how they customized their board though? Not such a cheapo job if you ask me.

edit: the site in my sig is using YaBB if you'd like to take a look at that also. it is however a databaseless forum.

www.simplemachines.org = SMF or Simple Machines Forum . . .

Agreed SMF is currently the best free choice. . . Fusetalk used here is really nice if you have an extra $129, $3k or $4.5k lying around. . .
