i want to upgrade video card. currently have Asus N6600 gt/oc SLI setup.
i want to use best video card as long as my cpu, mobo, ram, ps can handle it. i really like 8800's, but that means spending another 3g or more. new mobo, ps, 2 video card, ram, so on.........

Asus A8N SLi Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
Corsair XMS 2-1gig ram
Enermax 600w PS

You don't have to spend $3,000 for a system that can use an 8800GT effectively...

That being said, your CPU may be a bit of a bottleneck if you were to get an 8800GT card. Again, a hearty upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Duo, a good mobo, and DDR2 RAM with an 8800GT shouldn't cost you more than $1000 at MOST.

I was just in a similar situation.

Have an X2 4200+, same motherboard, and 2GB of PC4000. There was no way I was dropping $1000.

Ended up spending like $200 on a new PSU and case (that I needed either way) and another $275 on my video card. That should last me the next 3 weeks for what I'm going to use it for. Pricey upgrade, but meh.

I just upgraded to the 8800gts 512mb and it works well with my overclocked 4400+. It was probably overkill for me but I don't upgrade all that often anymore.
I upgraded my psu just to be safe at the same time.
