BTW, are you running Windows XP? Did you happen to enable the built-in remote diagnostics stuff? That allows someone else with WinXP to come along and control your computer. Not sure what all can be controlled, but that's something else to check for since it is built right into XP. Might not necessarily be a trojan.

WHAT!? NO! :Q

Go with either Norton Internet Securities 2002 or Sygate Personal Firewall. They're the top two.

Actually, if you want a firewall that costs money, then Zonealarm Pro IS a better choice... it is highly configurable, it has pop-up and cookie stoppers and it blocks not just attacks but also trojans... it has a built in e-mail scanner also... soooo...

If you are looking for something free... TPF - Tiny Personal Firewall is the best solution...

I won't ever buy into the ZoneAlarm scam.

I assume you are comparing the free version with the verions that cost money, or are you comparing them to the trialware? that would suck because after 30 days you have NO protection..

he doesnt like it cuz after install, he wasnt able to access the internet from what i remember in an earlier thread on firewalls.

i like it. nice and simple firewall ..

Would you care to give a reason for that opinion? I have used and tried Zonealarm Pro, i have used Norton, i prefer Zonealarm Pro... and so do most sites that rate firewalls..

I've explained the whole Zone Alarm thing on AT before. I don't have the patience to look it up, copy, and paste. Good lord. Just look at their uninstall process.

Oh please, you are talking about uninstalls and norton firewall? It leaves a shitload of unnecessary files, besides, you never answered me, are you talking about Zone Alarm Pro, and if not, then why the heck are you comparing it to Norton??

Norton AV and Firewall are extreme cases of bloatware... and neither of them are the best product in any other sense either... if you want the AV program that stops the most viruses, check out command AV, if you want the best firewall, Zonealarm Pro is it... or maybe the commercial version of TPF... BlackIce is not one of the better ones, that i can agree with...

The funny thing is, if you use AVS and TPF you are better protected for no cost what so ever than you are with the Norton bloatware products...
