Never really opened an eBook before in an Android device(I've open regular PDF's in ezPDF reader, sure but those don't count). I also don't have any "paid" eBook(If I do, they came with the textbook and I probably stripped out the DRM a long time ago) so I'm not biased against any particular format.

Is it even worth it?
I've been a hardcover/paperback book guy and I still am because it would be stupid to get an eBook when the hardcover is selling for the same exact price and gives you the more natural feel compared to these artificial ones.
The chance of an eBook being available at a steep discount(a $1 difference is not steep) compared to the paperback/hardcover is almost zero. I'm only interested in the free/public domain stuff for now unless I see something at a steep discount or something.

Based on my 20 seconds of research, Google Play Books is a piece of crap.
Positives and Negatives of each? Right now, I'm leaning towards Aldiko.

I've been using Aldiko Premium for about a year. Can't figure how to access my ePub/pdf with Kindle or Google PB.

What's the difference between the Free and the Premium version besides multi-language support?
The descriptions doesn't really explain much.

Not sure.

BTW, trying Moon+Reader. Like the part where the ebook is read (with a female voice) by the app. Also better interface to select the page you want to start/skip to or from.

I used to use Aldiko, switched to Cool Reader and couldn't be happier.
Crap, that's the major one I missed.
I wanted to make the thread 2 days ago but only got the chance to do so yesterday.
I noticed only 9 when creating this thread and scratched my head thinking "huh? I thought I counted 10 poll options last night?"

Too bad I can't edit polls. :\

Aldiko Premium for me. The main difference I can see is that the premium version has a nicer interface on tablets vs. free version. Otherwise, they are virtually identical as near as I can tell. I got the premium mainly to support the developer.

Most of the readers will probably do for a few books here and there, but I like Aldiko because it easily manages large libraries. I have over 300 books on my Nook Tablet and Aldiko makes it easy to order titles by author, tags or collections. Also I love the look of the shelf view.

For me, Aldiko also has perfect adjustment and font tools to get things just right for the way I prefer to read.

I vote kindle because I use kindle on most things and my position, notes, and highlights carry between all platforms.

I prefer Moon+ because it lets me use my volume buttons for page turning. One-handed reading seems more natural on a phone. And, Calibre lets you convert almost any ebook format to any other.

I have a few dozen books on kindle and a few on nook. I use the apps to read them on all 3 android phones, 1 android tab and on my iphone. I usually have at least one device on the ready to read. I prefer the kindle app as I love the whispersync. I can pick up my tablet or any device and continue reading where I left off without having to do a manual synch.

Never had a problem with the Kindle reader, and considering Kindle is on every platform imaginable, its a good bet - get your content just about anywhere.

What are the disadvantages of Kindle?
-Propretairy format (Calibre can convert from Kindle to ePub format and vice versa, right?)
-Any other disadvantage?

-Does Kindle allow importing of other platforms or one must always manually convert using Calibre? How long does this process usually take? If it's not something that takes too much time on average, I don't mind however.

Stupid time warps.

My wife and I both have Kindle devices, so that's what we use for tablets/phones/etc too. If you're just buying in to the eBook thing, I have no idea of the relative merits of Kindle and the various ePub stores/devices.
