I got a digix player from Fry's for $37.99. A lot more sturdy than the Apex players I've used and plays EVERYTHING. Region free hackable too.

If you don't live near Fry's, you can get <$50 players from Best Buy (Mintek or Cyberhome) or Radio Shack, or any place that sells dvd players really.
