hey all,
as of late i have been thinking about hopping on the dvd wagon and im confused to which direction to go in. i plan on viewing it on my tv mainly and was wondering if it were worth it going the pc or standalone route? if i did go with the pc route i would probably go with a tv adapter and not an tv/out vid card...i have heard that the adapters look much better. if i should go with a standalone which brand should i get or which model should i look at. i see some dvd players for 90 bux at circuit city and dumps like that so i dont know which to get and which to stay away from.

thanc for any input

I personally went for a DVD-Rom.

Baredrive Toshiba 12x/40x. I really like the drive, fast and quiet. Cost around 80$ US

My Radeon video out looked great on TV when watching DVDs.

Alot of my friends use dvd roms, and to be honest I dont like looking at a dvd on a monitor, it just does not feel right. I guess you could get one of those video cards with t.v. out, but I hear mixed things about the tv output quality. If you really want to jump on the dvd route, I would suggest just getting a real dvd player. But hey, if you can get a dvd rom for a good price, by all means do so. Some good DVD players are made by awia and sony. I have an APEX, it works fine and does MP3's, but I hear people have problems with this model. Not only that, If you want to really get fancy with those dvd's, normal speakers are better than computer speakers.
