Nah, D0 is for socket 478, which ends at 3.4GHz anyway. If I go Prescott it'll be socket T/775. I'll probably just end up waiting until April/May anyway though, since that's when R420 and NV40 should be out :) MMMMMM, Prescott 3.6 @ 4.0+ & R420 AIW = droooooooooool :)

I'd go with the P4C to save $$. You'll want a big storage system to handle video. Is this just a DVD burning rig or will you be capturing as well? The editors you listed don't really need much in the way of ram or cpu horsepower for editing, but they love fast harddrives. I'd get a pair of Raptors and read/cut from one and write to the other. If you've got the bucks, SCSI would be ideal for a system like this.

I'll be doing much more than burning DVDs, although that will be one of the main functions of this rig. Mostly it will be for photo and video editing and encoding. I do plan on getting two Raptor drives :)

AMD64 for everything. Anandtech preview on winXP64 show a nice performance increase using 64bit BETA encoders, which means it will increase quite more with final versions.
