Most would say the Alpha PAL6035

I have a copper version on my Tbird 800 / A7V and it runs (full load 24/7 via RC5) 950MHz at 1.8v with a reported temp of 52C (this would be lower but my case has poor ventilation... if I take a side off it drops 7 degrees)

check www.coolerguys.com or www.memory-man.com

Another vote for the Alpha PAL6035. Try www.coolerguys.com I got a cooler from within a week, with shipping to Holland!

Temps are around 52C with RC5 running the whole day and with a Thunderbird 800 @ 950Mhz w 1.85V.

Firehawk2,

This may be too late but would also recommend another cooler, the GlobalWin FOP32-1 which can be had from 2Cooltek for only $20+SH. I purchased one for my Duron and it really did the trick. You can see it here:

GlobalWin FOP32-1

I'm running a Duron @ 950MHz, 1.875v 40-45C depending upon load.

Will my current hs/fan (Vantec) that is on my Celeron work on my new KT7?

Just saw this a 3DCOOL.com, they say you MUST use a copper plate between yout hs and processor or you will break it, here is the quote:

**Note**: If you are cooling an AMD Thunderbird CPU, you will be required to use the Thunderbird Spacer. Failure to use the Thunderbird Spacer will result in frying your processor within 2-3 seconds of bootup. It's really that essential. Please note that this isn't a flaw with our products, it's a flaw with AMD's design of the processor. We're just smart enough to have been able to fix it for them. :)

Are they for real?!

Yeah right, do you know how many people are out there that don't use copper spacers? They're just BSing to get more money most likely.

I also vote for the FOP32, HardOCP has a review and it beat the copper plate off the Alpha. And at half (or sometimes less) the price of the PAL it can't be beat. I got a FOP32-1 (the 'revised' version), some silicone and 2-day air for only 30 bucks. Most Alphas cost that much by themselves.

I have an FOP32 sitting on my bench right now that I tried both with a T-Bird and Duron. Even with a Delta 38 CFM fan and Arctic Silver, it does not cool as well as my Alpha. The clip on the FOP32 was much more difficult to install(and a bitch to remove) compared to the one on the Alpha also. My T-Bird at 1.85 Volts has never exceeded 40 Cel. with the Alpha, and after looping the Quake3 demo many times, only gets to 37-38 Cel.

When they are back in stock, the Alpha with a decent fan could be had for $25.99 + $3.55 Priority Mail shipping at CPU's For Less
