I've been looking @ that model, I like brown rice too, & curent traditional rice cooker doesn't do brown rice well @ all.

Only thing holding me back is that the single switch on the style we have is bulletproof simple, how sophisticated/difficult are the menus of the fuzzy logic rice cookers?

medium/long grain. it depends on your taste, just try out the smaller bags, since there's no rice that will taste bad... it will just taste better than the others or it will be just normal. I prefer jasmine (the rest of my family... nah), but that's just me.

Homai CA grown white rice is what my mom buys. Good stuff, just get a high quality rice cooker ($200+ ball park) and you should be set.

Try various flavors and find your preference. I personally don?t like Basmati much because it is too dried, and my favorite is Jasmine, Bhutanese red rice, and wild rice.

Basmati ? long grain - dry/fluffy and aromatic, and aged grain is better than new grain (brown or white).

Jasmine ? long grain ? almost as long grain as Basmati, slightly sticker than Basmati, but have a very nice floral fragrant, and new grain is much better than aged grain.

Bhutanese red rice ? nutty flavor which is great with foods that have lots of flavors/herbs.

Wild rice ? nice pecan/nutty flavor and is quite good when mix with Jasmine or Basmati in paella or Latin American dishes.
