whats the best chinese white rice

I recently bought a RICE COOKER and wanted to know what is the best quality of chinese white rice. I currently have Basmati rice that is Indian.

I eat sushi rice. Nice and sticky, seems to be more filling. Not sure if it's chinese, but I eat it anyways.

Sushi is Japanese . . . now, if it's rice intended for Sushi, a Japanese food item, it'd obviously have to be Chinese, right?

Riiiiight!

I don't know about Chinese rice, but the Indian Basmati rice has no comparison IMO. You can buy big bags of it at Sam's Club to save $$. Persians swear by it. 🙂

all rice is not created equal......Also, you cannot just say Jasmine or whatever because brand matters.

So you can't say a ribeye steak is better than a t-bone because it's not the same brand or breed of cow? 😕

DaVortex, how dare you post a thread about RICE COOKERS & not tell us what brand & model you got?

Allow me to be the first one to shout POSER...

😉

Seriously though, rice preferences seem to be fairly individualized, my family likes sticky rice (the high gluten sushi rice), but I prefer jasmine or basmati.

I meant that of all rice that is the same types, you cannot just say they are the same (ie not all Jasmine rice tastes the same, some have more flavor than others depending on the company).

Rice elitest's 🙂 What's the deal with this anyway?

We saw a couple white guys at the asian market this weekend debating what's the best bag.

We like Kokuho Rose 'New Crop' ... it stays sticky and makes eating with Hashi/chopsticks easy...I have almost forgotten how to use a fork properly to eat with.

Wow are you serious? Ask around all the chinese people you know, how many of them actually like/eat Jasmine rice?

I'm chinese and i eat Jasmine. Although, i have not had any other in a while because i am too lazy to go to china town and pick up a twenty pound bag, so i resort going to shaws and paying up my ass for smaller bags of jasmine rice.
