I have a copy of Adaptec Easy CD 4, which I have tried a couple of times, and just got a copy of Nero 3.1 which I havent tried yet.

what do you guys think is the best burning app? it doesnt have to be one of these 2.

Which of the 2 that I have do you think is better?

yeah another vote for nero. Adaptec's newest software is alright, but nero is the bomb.

My school gets adaptec for free, and pays for nero, becuase they like it so much.

Nero is much better, although the newest 5.x version would be better than 3.1 by far.

I use Nero for CDRWs. for CDRs, I use Nero, CDRWin, BlindRead/Write, and DiscJuggler, depending on what I am trying to copy.

i have both nero and adaptec...i dont understand why everyone says nero is so much better. could someone explain this? if its because some people make coasters with adaptec then i understand. i dont have this problem but i understand. nero's interface is kind of a pain to figure out for the first time. i wouldnt say either program is better...anyone care to explain why they say one is better than the other?

EZ CD Creator Deluxe with all it's included programs cannot be beat!

For game backups it's CloneCD or..... nothing!

Two different needs need two different apps!

I dont think Nero 3.1 supports CDRW... but I'm not 100% sure...

Nero 5 is the best all-purpose burning software... It gives you control over many advnaced options...

But if you are not that comfortable with these advanced options and want a more "user-friendly" program, go with EZCD...

CloneCD will be best for making exact copies of CDs...

Personally I have not used Nero(but I hear very good things)...I do not like Adaptec software often leads to conflicts...
IMHO:

WinOnCD...has a simple wizard to help with burns...excellent program
Clonecd....nothing even comes close to cd replication when there are cd protections
Exact Audio Grabber ...excellent audio program

I use Nero5 and it's great, haven't used anything else tho. I use audiograbber too but it is a bit annoying that the shareware version always randomly chooses what you can and can't copy.

Nero and EZCD are great but i have found that CDRWIN works amazingly well with any type of media you are copying( DC, PSX, PC ) ive never had any problems that werent hardware related ( my burner isnt that good )

For me after switching to Nero I have yet to create any coasters. That is the main and most important advantage to me. Nero is fairly easy to grasp just take a sec and look it over. No coasters=Nero

Nero is pretty good, certainly one of the better programs.

It is missing a few features (Audio preview has no seek-controls, and doesn't accurately represent track transitions),
it's a bit buggy (can lock up your CD-RW drive so that you have to reboot),
and although it isn't fully supported on Windows 2000 (Multimounter doesn't work at all, and you need to log on as administrator to do anything) most functions do work.

EZCD 4 is OK, but version 4.01 has a couple of annoying bugs that will drive you nuts (e.g. if you copy an audio CD it puts noise in between the tracks). Version 4.02 is much better, and has no major bugs. (Apart from 4.02e which seems to screw up power management on Windows 2000).

NERO gets my vote. i've been using it for over a year i have nothing but good things to say about it.
Also i like CDRWIN. It's small and powerful. it really packs a punch.
