I just do 5.1 here. I am currently using a Yamaha HTR-5960.

I wish I snagged that RX-V673 for $299 last month.

My speakers are very efficient so 90WRMS is fine (Klipsch Quartet, Academy, SS-25, and an Emotiva Ultra 12 sub).

The Denon E400 is a great deal when you can get it for $300 (often on sale for this price at various stores, especially Fry's).

People say Denon makes the best sound at this price range. I got Denon 1913 for 69 dollars at BestBuy's clearance. If you check my thread below, you might be able to find one. Denon 1913 is last year's model with a 450$ retail value.

I also have a Yamaha 673 in my home right now but I plan to return it because i got the Denon at such a good deal. The Yamaha has more features but people say it doesn't sound as great as Denon. I plan on getting next year's clearance at a cheap price too. Easy way to upgrade without breaking the bank or you could just buy new but I don't see any point. Best Buy also sold me insurance on the receiver at 20$ so they will replace my model if it ever breaks but since they don't make that model anymore, they will give me the new version. Buy clearance, it's a good deal.

There is nothing like that even at the max 248 miles from me. Even the 1613 is $75. The 1713 is $199.

Best Buy clearance can be tricky. You really don't know the final price until you go to the store and have them scan the open box item. Before I went, the price listed on the website for the open box Denon 1913 was 300$. I went to the store and followed the guy around until he found the open box item. It took him a while because it was actually the display model so he had to unplug it from the TV. Afterwards he looked up the model number on his computer screen and it showed up at 140$. He asked me if i still wanted to buy it and i said sure. He scanned it one final time and it came out at 69$.

If I were you, I'd go check and see if the 1713 would scan at Best Buy for a lower price. Your chances for getting it cheap are high since that model is being cancelled. If Best Buy isn't too far from you, go for it.

Edit:
Good Luck!

+1. The 1713 has the same level of Audyssey at the E400. It's a great AVR and if you can get it for $200 or less with a warranty, you're getting a great deal. I own a 1713 that I got on clearance from Best Buy a few months ago for $200 and am very happy (I also own a 2112ci and have become a bit of a Denon fan).

Still not a horrible price on the 1713 and may even get it cheaper in store. The 1713 is actually a better receiver than the 1913. Not as many fluff features but has superior room correction software to the 1913. Personally I'm a fan of Yamaha. Had a Denon 1613 that got killed by lightning and replaced it with a Yamaha 573 and prefer the Yamaha. I always buy year old models on clearance. New stuff rarely has a feature that's worth the premium.

If the Marantz 6007 is on clearance at a local Best Buy, snag it ASAP.

MultEQ XT, plenty of power, blah blah - $400 on the dot for this deal

I have a Denon 591 which was in the 300ish range 3 years ago or so, and it's been a pretty good receiver.
