i dont overclock because i dont know how, last time i tried i had no idea what i was doing so i stopped and havent tried since.

My 3 year old messed up my mobo by putting nail, fork, lots of coins and other ******. It still works but I think he shorted out the memory slots atleast thats what its pointing out to. I doubt he burned out both my memory sticks. It was a asus P5B mobo I didn't want it in the first place but I had no other choice at that time. Anyway I'm looking for the best motherboard out there (preferably asus) regardless of the price I got a few hundered to spend right now so if anyone can recommend me a few Great ones for a non overlocker like me that would be cool.

thx zeek

600W PSU
Asus P5B Mobo
E6600 w/ coolermaster aquagate cooling (changing to reg. stock fan)
2 GB Corsair Mem.
MSI nVidia 7800 GTX
250GB WD HD & 36 Raptor HD
Running WinXP 32bit & Vista 64bit
thats all i can think of right now..

For no o/c, I'd actually say the P5B you had. If you want Asus again, just take a look at the P5B series and see how you like the other boards and their features in that series (NOT the Commando).

However, the 975x chipset is also a good one and is mature and stable...P5W-DH

Since money doesn't seem to matter, just do some comparing and take your pick. At least you know what you're getting with the P5B boards.

i have the asus p5w-dh deluxe w/ the 6600 like you, and it works flawlessly. Lots of features, and dead silent. I am o/c'ing mine to 3ghz while undervolting it, and its 100% stable. (seems like i havent even pushed it)

i would highly reccomend this board.

Hey tr0ver I'm looking into that p5w-dh deluxe also but not sure what to get yet, and that commando also but whats the point if I probably wouldn't know how to overclock it anyway.. I just want to make the right descision before I buy. If I where to get that board would you be able to help me out with the settings to OC my processor to 3.0GHz? I'm a big gamer! so I need the speed.

thx zeek.

my choices would be:

asus p5b deluxe
asus commando
asus p5n32-e
asus p5n32-e plus
asus p5n-e
asus p5wdh
asus striker extreme

there are some other good ones but that's how i'd pick it...

the nice thing about the 650/680 boards is the ability to get another 7800gtx and run sli.

you can do sli on the 965p and 975x but they are slightly crippled and require hacked drivers.
