Best virus protection

=

a shovel + your hands + 5foot deep hole in ground = 80% protected

but seriously i use Mcafee and set my clients up with that as well haven't had any probs to date with things getting by. I keep a steady list of 30-40 clients so not a lot but eh.. ..

Not saying it works for everyone, and certainly not for computers with multiple (dumb) users, but I haven't had an anti-virus product on my PC in 4 years... I've gotten all of 2 or 3 viruses. Being smart about your habits and learning how viruses can spread is a much better defense, as NO anti-virus software is fool-proof and anyone that wants a virus to do damage bad enough can find ways around.

9 times out of 10 when a person's PC is trashed from a virus, I've seen that the virus has taken over the anti-virus software itself, and reinstalls and launches itself everytime someone tries to run it.

That being said, routine scans at housecall.trendmicro.com are a much better choice, as the virus definitions are always up to date and viruses can't overtake files that come from off the internet (at least not easily.)

What about for business use? I am going to setup 7 new systems for a small accounting firm, and i wanted to get something easy to use, relatively cheap and has some admin capabilities from the server.

Im looking at Norton 9.0, small business. I need about 10 liscs.

Any suggestions?

What's the deal? Where's MechBgon????? He should have been here by now to recommend Kaspersky 5.0. :)
I've not used it, but he always recommends it. It's said to have a very good detection rate, vs AVG's not-so-impressive performance.

Well if you switch to linux you don't really need anti-virus apps.

When will the world learn that checking your email with admin privileges is a bad idea?

I didn't want to overdo it, or I would've ;) Someone's going to accuse me of taking payoffs from them before too long-- D'OH, gotta run, the Kaspersky truck's delivering the 30 cases of frozen pizza!!!! :Q

Kaspersky does have an attractive package. They don't make you wait a week between virus-definition updates, they have excellent detection rates from what I've read and seen, their product is price-competitive, and I found it was pretty straightforward to configure. And their trialware is good for 30 days, which is double what McAfee or Symantec/Norton are giving.

I thought that I was the Kaspersky whore around here. Fsecure is good also. Panda's virus dection is pretty good but support is nonexistant.
