What's the best 60mm fan?

I'm using an Evercool Aluminum F-A66103A, which is nice, but it's not exhausting enough hot air from my case. Can anyone suggest a more powerful, yet reasonably quiet, fan?

60mm? A retail AMD HS fan, maybe?
Move to an 80mm fan and you can double the airflow with less noise. I wouldn't wish anyone a 60mm exhaust fan!

its either quiet or high rpm for high flow. only real option for more flow at same noise level is a larger fan.

No place to mount a larger fan, I'm afraid, although thicker is possible. In this case (pun intended), higher exhaust is more important than quietness, really.

what case do you have that it only comes with a 60mm exhaust mount? there are some really loud high output 60mm fans out there. i've had a 6800rpm screamer myself, before i tore it out in annoyance.

Don't know the name, but here's a couple of pics:

Case backplane

Case front angle

Understand, this is not my case, I have three of them and this one was open to take the pics. Mine has an 8RDA+ with a retail 3000+ running 11.5x200fsb (2305Mhz). I've got a SLK-700 w/TMD 74mm fan applied using AS3 on the CPU; a Vantec CCB A1C on the nb; and the stock nb hs on the sb (shaved to proved clearence for m/b components). That stock mounted fan you see in the 2nd pic has been replaced in my box with a Smartfan II pointed at an upward angle. The hard drive is mounted in one of the upper 3 5.25 slots, to proved clearence for airflow around the long Ti 4600 video card. I've even got an extra fan on the bottom side of the 450w powersupply to pull hot air out of the case, but I hope to get more out through that 60mm fan on the back.

So, what do you think?

a fan on the bottom side on the psu? i don't get it. you cut a hole in your case side? or in the psu side? if its in the case it might help a bit, if its in the psu, not that much.

i see its an old case. but even old cases can be easily moded to be cooling monsters:) buy/get a dremil, and slice that aweful fangrill off the back. those tiny holes are pitiful and kill any airflow your fan produces. i did that with my ghetto old case. the front bottom mount is probably one of those next to useless mounts. tiny holes i'm guessin, with it trying to breath through a slit in the bottom of the plastic bezel. thats a slice and dice candidate too. many fan hole/blow hole tutorials out there on the web, just use google.

here are some pics of my old case that got updated to meet the needs of current cpus:p http://fox302.com/index.pl?s=vg&user=oroooroo&category=Case

it too had the aweful useless front mount case fan. it also has the tiny 60mm fan mount in the top back witht iny holes. but two of em. i taped em over since i don't use em anymore. i did however cut the fan grills off, so i could put 2 60mm in there if i felt like it.

what i did was cut 3 holes in the side panel, 1 in the front and one on top. 3 of the fans are stealth vantecs, two of those being 92mm, rest of case fans are 80mm, pretty quiet to begin with. rest are cheapo fans from svc. and all are hooked to the fan controller so i can have em hum along very quietly unless its a wretchedly hot summer day. i later added the 3rd side case fan and swapped the top fan for a blue led fan when i added the ghetto intake filters.

top case fan is external because theres not quite enough space to mount it inside, the space under it is large as the fane blades, but not as large as the fan:) it works so i don't care, esp iwththe new lighted one.

a fun link;)
http://www.ashline.net/computer/cablefolding/ide_cable_folding.htm probably more for vanity then much function in your very empty case:)

Sorry for that, it was confusing. I've got an extra fan as an integral part of of my power supply. It's on the bottom side, above the cpu, and pulls air into the power supply, then out via the standard fan on it's back.

The front fan does pretty well, considering. That plastic bracket holds the fan several inches from the front of the case itself, and there are a ton of holes in the front for mounting different faceplates. I guess this is so they could sell the same case to 20 different companies, and just give each a different style of front panel so each looks unique. And my faceplace has enough slats to provide excellent air flow from the front.

You are corrent though, I should cut out that grill in the back. But I'd have to completely dismount the entire box, and I'm probably a little too lazy and/or busy to take the time. So maybe I'll just get one of those $35 Raidmax aluminum cases and move everything over. It already has a hole in the side for a fan, so no additional mods needed.

Oh, I don't like rounded or folded cables. The magnetic interfence from the wires being next to each other like that generates spurious electrical charges that cause slowdowns in the communication from the drive back to the system. Besides, my hard drive is SATA, and it's cables are just plain wonderful.

thats true. yea my psu has two fans too, it only helps push the air past obstruction, it doesn't double the airflow.
