Hi all,

I am looking for the best 250W~300W quiet power supply for my home desktop. It's running a Tualatin Celery 1.1 @ 1.5Ghz on an Asus P3V4X. I have a Radeon 32MB DDR (yeah it's old), 120GB Maxtor 7200RPM drive, TDK 12x CDRW and a DVD-ROM reader.

I am using the 250W Powerman PS that came with the case (I built this system a couple of yrs ago).

I also have two 80mm case fans, one in the front and one in back just under the power supply. I got them along with the case/ PS from Directron.com. I am gonna unplug them after I finish posting to see just how noisy these fans are. Just in case, what's the quietest 80mm fans now?

My budget for the power supply is around $50, +/- 15. I guess I should go for extra such as SATA connectors and higher wattage, so just let me know if you got some tips!

Are you planning on upgrading? If not, that PSU should be fine. Powerman actually makes some decent units. I have one running the duallie in my sig. I'd replace the fan with a Panaflo L1a (I did in my Powerman PSU). I think the deal on L1a's is still going on @ BG Micro.

Zalman ZM300A-APS or Zalman ZM300B-APS
the "B" version has the sata connectors.

Unless the supply you have is louder than you'd like, just stick with it. The powerman/inwin line is usually quite good. If the model # begins with fsp, then it's a fortron- good stuff, plenty of power for what you're doing.
