Quick question. I'm looking to get some 2-2-2 memory. I was wondering which is the best for overclocking (AAT seems to love the OCZ stuff) and the best all around. How does Mushkin lvl 2 V2 perform vs. Corsair XMS Pro and OCZ Plat EL Rev. 2??

Anyone have any personal experience with this Mushkin Lvl II V2 memory??

LMK! Thanks!

I'm not terribly familiar with PQI. ATM, I can get the Mushkin memory really cheap, so that was looking very nice, but it doesn't overclock well. OCZ 2-2-2 overclocks like crazy, and the Crucial Ballistix hits DDR460 while still timed at 2-2-2, but both cost a pretty penny.

ATM, my Kingmax Hardcore is running well enough though, so I may stick with that. It OC'd to 270MHz (not a huge jump) and I think that may suffice.

What do y'all think?? What'll be the best to run with an OC'd 3200+ Winchester?

Rank these 2-2-2 PC3200 brands:

OCZ EL Plat. Rev 2
Geil Ultra X
Mushkin lvl II V2
Crucial Ballistix
Kingston HyperX LL
Corsair XMS Pro LL
PQI Turbo

I plan on overclocking, so take that into acct.

i have the mushkins you refer to and love em.

Running 2-2-2 @PC3200
and OC'd 3.0ghz P4 to 3.15
although not a huge OC, it runs quite smoothly...

Crucial has the lifetime warranty, but many are having problems getting those 2225 timings with the PC3200XLpro.
I have an FX53 and have to run mine at 2336.
I tried another set they sent me, and it also only runs at 2336.
They've never really come up with an answer as to why some people can't run those timings. They'll tell you to raise the voltage to 2.8, which I did. And I have the latest bios in my MB.
I dunno, read message forums of the manufacturers to see what I'm talking about. The Crucial message board is here, you'll get some clues after you lurk for a while.

If you buy an FX55 this point is mute, because my FX53 can play everything with all detail on high.

OCZ EL Platinum Rev 2 PC3200 (OCZ4001024ELDCPER2-K)
PQI Turbo Memory PC3200 (PQI3200-512SBU)

Those both use Samsung TCCD on BrainPower 808 PCBs.

If you have a little bigger budget, I believe the best you can buy is OCZ EL Platinum Rev 2 PC4200. That uses their highest-binned TCCD ICs.

I've not heard of PC4200 Plat Rev. 2. I see the normal Plat EL, but not the revision...

OCZ looks mighty fine, but it is a bit pricy ATM. I'll start a new job soon, which should give me a little more $$ to spend...

PDP makes Patriot RAM, uses TCCD chips. Not an overclocking beast like the OCZ stuff, but it's about 50 buck cheaper for 512x2.

What I've got right now is probably a good bit better than PDP/Patriot. I really want to overclock, and cheaper RAM would kill that for meh.
