What's the best 19" LCD Monitor for gaming. I heard Planar has a 17" @ 16ms, but I really would like at least a 19".

Samsung Syncmaster 192t.

Is this LCD monitor good for graphics and gaming?

no, get a 16ms monitor. that one has 25ms

So many people buy into the "you must have 16ms to game" LCD hype. My 1800FP (30ms) doesn't ghost and has superb image quality.

Most of the time people who say get a 16ms monitor because it doesnt ghost havent even seen a good quality 25ms one in action. There is hardly any difference, and only in games with super intense contrast of colour at fast moving speeds will you see very slight blur, but you have to be examining the picture and concenctrate and basically try to look for it. In my opinion getting a 19" LCD over a 17" one with very slightly improved response time is worth it considering the extra 2 inches and higher native resolution. Also if your going for the 192T and other good quality 19 inchers you wont be dissapointed as all 17" 16ms dont display a true 16.7 million colour panel, they only display certain thousands of colors but blend them together in order to create a colour which is being displayed by picture in your game.

Newbie question: Does a game have to be run at the native resolution of the LCD panel (eg 1280x1024 for 19") or can it be adjusted according to preference (ie 1024x780)? I was led to believe that LCD flat panels do not function so well at non-native resolutions?

If 1280x1024 is the only resolution that is 'acceptable' for 19'', then i guess a good video card like a 9700 will also be necessary....

Would appreciate it if someone enlightens me.

My Radeon 8500 plays games great at 1280x1024 on my Planar PX191. Only very very slight ghosting in dark games when you go crazy with the mouse changing the view around.

That is basically correct. If the native resolution is too high for your eyes, you'll have to play with DPI settings in the Windows Display Properties.

Eh, not sure about that, I don't do any gaming on my Radeon SDR PCI and Radeon VE. 🙁

I have a Planar 191M hooked up by the DVI to a Gainward Ti4200 card and it is absolutely great.

I do not play first person shooters where there is a lot of super fast action but all my flight sim type games are a sight to behold!!!!!!

DVDs are awesome too.
