This is not intended for advice on which i should not be getting a 1000w+ PSU. Price is not a factor, but performance and depedability are the main factors. This thread is for people who have knowledge of 1000w+ PSUs

I have some examples that could anyone give some feedback or info on the following PSUs.

OCZ OCZ1000EXS elite xtreme 1000w 80 plus certified

and

XIGMATEK HC NRP-HC1201 1200w

or is there a better brand from 1000w-1200w?

Have you looked at AnandTech's reviews on the subject? They recently reviewed the Corsair 1000HX, and I would imagine there are links in that review to others. If not, I'm sure they've done a comparison of high-wattage supplies fairly recently.

Corsair ftw

I am too, but he said he didn't want to be talked out of it, and it's his money.

Xigmatek has been a real price leader lately. They're using the same platform as Corsair and Thermaltake but selling at considerably lower prices.

THAT SAID, you still may only be getting what you're paying for. We all know that Corsair's warranty and support are fantastic, so the upcharge is more like an investment. I don't think Xigmatek has been around long enough for any of us to really gage their service level.

I'd recommend the Corsair HX1000W. I own it, and it's currently driving 8 Hitachi Deskstar 500GB on a raid5 controller, a WD velociraptor 300, 2 DVD drives, 2 8800GTX's. It seems to be holding up just fine. Without really breaking into the heavy usage fan area. It's fan has a controller, that as you start ramping up the wattage it spins faster. At full on it can be loud. I haven't come close to it being louder than the 8800GTX's yet.

Reviews have shown that as long as the temperature is under 50C that it can produce 997 watts, so that's pretty decent efficiency there.

Oh and I paid 249.99 for it at a local SoCal fry's this weekend.
