It has more flavor than white bread? Same with Rye, pumpernickel, whole wheat.

This.

It doesn't taste BAD, it's mildly tangy and has some body to it.

I haven't bought plain white bread in 20 years or more.

Sourdough rolls fresh out of the oven with cold butter... mmm, nothing better.

Better than rice out of the most expensive rice cooker money can buy. ;)

Exactly. Sourdough is tangy goodness that tastes nothing like stale bread.

I normally use whole wheat for PBJ and chicken salad sandwiches, but sourdough is great with other kinds and as a side with soup.

I was prepared to defend the deliciousness of sourdough bread, but I see there is no need for my services.

The appeal is in its deliciousness. Damn I miss REAL San Francisco sourdough. The stuff that passes for sourdough here in NC is shit.

sourdough is different the world over. That's one thing that's awesome about sourdough - if you travel, it'll generally be unique wherever you go. Sourdough starters pick up flavor from the local environment.

Hmmm sourdough at Boudin on the wharf is so delicious. I believe that was the place that had been using the same line of yeast for 150 years.

Its bold, tangy and makes the best pretzels.

I know. Which is why it's funny when I see stuff labeled "San Francisco Style Sourdough" in stores here. Real SF Sourdough bought in SF is the best I've tasted anywhere.

My grandma used to make sourdough and put it on top of her refridgerator to ferment. Wow that stuff was good. I would never use that method these days for fear of getting someone sick :)
