What's the appeal in trashy romance novels?

I have a friend that's absolutely addicted to those craps, she reads it everwhere, she would have almost a freaking library of them. She would rather spend time reading them than do anything else, like going out, and if she goes out, she would bring a book with her. What I don't understand is, she's not bad looking, I'd do her (that is if my gf doesn't mind), what the hell that's so addicting about those stupid books anyway? And then she would dream about those stupid fantasies in those books and expect a perfect guy to come along. Do you know anybody like that? Are you like that?

hey man... why don't you read the first line in your own sig?

women like drama, if they are deprived of Days of our Lives or romance movies/books, they will begin to "improvise" and take it out on the said BF/husband. They create the drama when they cant put themselves in the position of others thru books/movies
