What's the advantage to having a forum on my server versus a message board server hosting it?

Example: I'm making a motorcycle web site and i want a forum. Why would i want to have the forums located on my server (msucycle.com hosted by Dixie) versus somewhere like motozine.com? If i go with something like motozine, i'll already have guaranteed traffic (due to all of the other clubs that use them) and no setting up on my end. Am i missing something here? Why would i want them on my site alone?

Only thing I could think of is control issues and censorship. Like them putting policies in place that you can't have profanity or nudity in your forums.
