What's the advantage to having a 12 V (P4) connection to an AMD board?

What's the advantage to having a 12 V (P4) connection to an AMD board? I've been outta the loop for a while guys.... sorry.

Yeah, same reason that the P4 uses it. :) Pretty much any current PSU will have that wire, so it's an advantage to have it even on an AMD board. But most won't since it's more tracing and wiring needed on the board, and they can't depend on all users having it.

Because both the AMD and Intel processors run off the 12v line of the power supply.

More 12V and ground paths distribute the load too, reducing the likelihood of a connector getting overworked and failing.
