Hey Gang,

I've got a Samsung 930b LCD and an eVGA 7800GTX video card. I was wondering if it's worth dropping the $60 - $100 bones for a DVI cable? What are the advantages and will I even notice?

Thanks!!

You may notice quite a contrast difference. At least I did, but it could be because my card has a bad DAC, so I'm not really sure, but the contrast is fine from other VGA input (HDTV box). You will notice a difference in clarity. I say go for it for $12.

For me, the analog vs. DVI was night and day. The analog was very blurry. I was almost ready to return my new video card. Then I hooked it up via DVI and everything cleared up 100%.

If you're used to using a laptop then you can really tell the difference as all laptops are essentially DVI internally. Analog will show its weaknesses to your eyes instantly.

i hooked up both the dvi and vga sides of my 2005. one caveat: i didn't spend any time at all tweaking the picture in vga mode (dvi mode requires no tweaking, of course). i could tell a pretty big difference as the text in vga was fatter in some areas than others. it almost looked like it was bold.
